Description Scarse English (doglock) pistol Circa 1645. Overall length approx. 22.3/4 in., tapetred round steel barrel approx. 13.7/8 in. Barrel to a pleasing shiny steel finish with darker rust speckles. The steel lock, trigger and trigger-guard, side-plate, ramrod tip, ramrod pipes, butt plate etc also all to a pleasing shiny steel finishwith darker rust speckles. barrel and lock-plate with an “A” over a crown (but I am not sue whether this might be a later addition?). Dark-brown wooden stock with dings and wear throughout. The wooden ramrod is broken at vthe end opposite the steel tip.The pistol has a good strong action spring but the sear must be worn as it is not locking currently. A very scarse and desirable mid 1640s pistol rarely encountered for sale. In good overall condition.
