Description “Zulu iklwa” (or iklwa, ixwa) or short, stabbing spear. Overall length approx. 34. 3/4 in., double-sided steel blade length appro., 6. 3/4 in and to a darkgry finish eith crude sharpening to each side of the double-sided flat blade. It is made from a single shaft of wood the, spear blade is set into the shaft and then bound to it. The attractive beadwork to the centre of the shaft is in good and undamaged condition. An old paper label attached to the spear says “ZULU STABBING SPEAR PHONGOLO AREA OF ZULULAND”. There are no splits, cracks or other damage. Generally in good overall condition for its age.
