1916 Dated Imperial German Naval Ensign (submarine?)

Description 1916 Dated Imperial German Naval Ensign (submarine?). Well made with double sewn hem around the periphery. Cotton white background with printed Imperial German Maltese cross to the left upper corner, black central cross with a red band to the top left-hand part of the central cross, surmounted centrally by an Imperial German Eagle. The left-hand band reinorcement section stamped in black ink within a box border with the initials “K. B. A. G.” over “1916”. the top cord attachment eye and a section of the lower cord survive. No holes or moth, but a little grubby and stained. A rare survivor of the Imperial German Navy. Dimensions approx: 34″ deep x 56″ wide.
