DescriptionOne of the better pikeman hat/helmets we have seen from the English Civil War era c1642. These helmets were worn by the ground troops along with breast and back plate armour and upper leg armour. The pikes were very long hardwood poles with a spear point used against Horse Calvary charges. This helmet still has its original rivets and washers though the leather lining has long since rotted away. Some small rust holes are visible where the brim joins the 2 piece skull.Very nice period piece for the serious English Civil War collector. A rare find!
