Abert Rim – Lake Abert

With Abert Rim, the longest fault scarp in North America, looming 2,500′ above Oregon’s only salt water lake, colorful lichen decorate rocks along a former shoreline of Lake Abert’s recent geologic past.  In this northern most portion of the Great Basin and Range, climate change, agency mismanagement, and prolonged drought has severely impacted this important lake, to the point where it was completely empty in 2022.  Lake County, Eastern Oregon.         Abert Rim, Lake Abert, Lake County, Lichen
